Venezuela: Maradona Meets Maduro in Caracas to Offer His Support

Argentine former football player and current coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, Diego Armando Maradona, travelled to Caracas on Tuesday to offer his support to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The pair hugged effusively and held a friendly conversation, in which the Argentine expressed his support for the Bolivarian revolution and criticised the sanctions that the United States has imposed on the South American country.

According to local media, the Venezuelan leader joked with the idea of offering the Argentinian star the position of manager of the national team of Venezuela, who is currently without a coach.

Maradona thanked Maduro for the offer but rejected it due to his current commitment to the Argentinian team, although he stated that it might be a possibility in the future.
