Scale of American Betrayal Now Clear As Mission of Peace by Soleimani Revealed, Questions of Israel’s Role in Assassination Asked

New details have emerged surrounding the American assassination of Qassem Soleimani and the reason for his presence in Iraq, with new official details from the Iraqi government revealing that the Iranian general was in-fact on a mission of peace in the country.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi has revealed that Soleimani was acting as part of an Iraqi attempt to improve regional relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Abdul-Mahdi having been scheduled to meet with the Iranian general to get a response from Iran to a letter sent by Saudi Arabia as part of peace efforts.

Laying bare the scale of the betrayal by the Americans, Abdul-Mahdi also revealed that Donald Trump had asked him to personally mediate with Iran following last Tuesday’s protests at the American embassy in Baghdad. Despite no injuries being reported, Trump and the United States blamed Iran and Soleimani for the protests which saw the embassy overrun by protestors.

Abdul-Mahdi said he was disappointed that Trump was talking of mediation while planning the murder of Soleimani.

“He came to deliver me a message from Iran, responding to the message we delivered from Saudi Arabia to Iran”

Like everyone else, including Great Britain, Saudi Arabia was not consulted or informed of the murder plot against Soleimani despite being one of the United States’ key allies in the region.

Only Israel was informed, reports suggesting they had prior knowledge of the attack days before it happened. Peace, of course, is not good for everyone.

Regional instability and increased tensions between Sunni and Shia Muslims is only to the advantage to Israel and its U.S. allies, with the concept of divide and conquer being one of the oldest strategies in the world. The possibility of improved relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and the final defeat of al-Qaeda and ISIS in Iraq and Syria would begin a period of reconstruction and rebuilding, one that would see Iranian influence increasing throughout the region alongside increased stability.

The fact that so many of Israel’s neighbours have fallen into states of war and revolution is certainly no coincidence.

In fact, the assassination of Qassem Soleimani has been a long term goal of Israel, with the apartheid state plotting to kill the general as long ago as 2015. When informed of the murder plot, the Obama administration is said to have warned Iran of the threat.

“The report says Israel was ‘on the verge’ of assassinating Soleimani three years ago, near Damascus, but the United States warned the Iranian leadership of the plan, revealing that Israel was closely tracking the Iranian general”

By 2018, however, the Trump administration gave the go-ahead to Israel to carry out the killing as part of a long series of concessions to Israeli far-right belligerence including recognising Israel’s illegal occupation of the Golan Heights and moving the American embassy to Jerusalem.

Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported on January 1 last year that “there is an American-Israeli agreement” that Soleimani is a “threat to the two countries’ interests in the region.”

The new revelations make a mockery of American claims that Qassem Soleimani was a clear and present threat to American personnel or interests in the region. Far from being a threat, his mission of peace, if successful, would have only increased security for everyone in the region. Everyone of course except Israel.
