Muscovites stockpiled on essential goods on Monday amid fears over the coronavirus pandemic as shown by footage filmed in one of the capital’s supermarkets.
The store’s shelves were half-empty with fruits, vegetables, bread and toilet paper the most sought-after items.
According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the situation in the country is under control and food stocks are sufficient.
According to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) latest report, there are over 183,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, with more than 7,100 who lost their lives. There have been 93 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Russia.
