Umayyad Mosque in Syria Begins Ramadan Without Prayers Due to Coronavirus

The Umayyad Mosque in Damascus kicked off the Islamic holy month of Ramadan without Taraweeh prayers for the first time in history due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Friday.

Usually, the famous mosque would host thousands of worshipers during Ramadan.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, the country has reported 42 cases and three fatalities related to COVID-19.
