Ahmad Diab and Aseel Massoud, a couple of prominent musicians from Syria live in Barcelona and delight their neighbours by giving ‘window concerts,’ amid the coronavirus quarantine in Spain.
Footage recorded on Saturday shows musicians performing their repertoire, with neighbours seen dancing to their music on balconies, applauding and hanging posters supporting the duo.
Diab says the idea came from Massoud. “Why don’t we sing to give them some positive energy, to move a little bit, to be a little bit happier,” he said, recalling Massoud’s words.
The neighbours are also welcome to request the songs they want to listen to.
“Sometimes there is a neighbour that sends a request to us. One time we sang a French song ‘Je l’ame a morir,’ it was a wedding song [of a neighbour] when she walked with her dad, it was really exciting when we sang it to her,” added Massoud.
As of Saturday, Spain has 161,852 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 16,606 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
