Thousands of activists marched in Sao Paulo on Sunday, marking the International Women’s Day.
People marched waving flags and carrying banners while chanting slogans against Brazilian President Jair Bolsnaro.
Heloisa, one of the protesters, said “We are here to represent the force of war, the struggle of women, and to send a message to [Jair] Bolsonaro: we will destroy you.”
Among protesters’ demands were putting an end to femicide as well as better opportunities for women with disabilities.
In one week, Brazil will commemorate the second anniversary of the murder of Marielle Franco, a politician and an activist for women’s rights and sexual diversity.
