Anti-Government Protesters Hold Lebanon Car-Honking Rally

A car-honking protest took place on the streets of Beirut on Tuesday, while lawmakers convened at an events venue for the first time in a month amid the coronavirus crisis.

Anti-government protesters drove around the city in their cars and on their motorcycles to abide by social distancing measures, with many waving the Lebanese flag out of the windows.

“The revolution is not dead,” said a woman, who explained that activists were resuming the movement after months of stalemate due to the pandemic.

Protests in the country broke out in October against government corruption, as Lebanon was facing its worst economic crisis in decades, with soaring unemployment and the local currency losing value against the dollar.
