Despite a nationwide the lockdown surrounding the danger of the coronavirus pandemic, many people in London have still ventured outside amidst uncharacteristically sunny April weather.
Footage filmed at Victoria Park and Regent’s Canal on Thursday shows locals cycling, jogging and walking pets as temperatures in London hit 23 degrees Celsius (73 degrees Fahrenheit), with some even seen to be topless.
While many were taking their right to walk a dog or engage in daily exercise, many others undoubtedly were not.
Victoria Park had been closed as part of the enforcement of the measures at the beginning of the lockdown but was reopened to the public on April 11.
Social distancing measures are reiterated throughout both the park and the canal. Many signs can be seen explaining how locals should behave and distance indicators have been painted on the floor.
The UK has been one of the worst affected countries by the ongoing pandemic with over 138,000 cases, according to John Hopkins University data. Thus far, there have been official 18,738 deaths related to COVID-19 nationwide with the real figure said to be over 44,000.
