Italy: Holocaust Survivor Liliana Segre Celebrated at Rally Against Hatred

Holocaust survivor Liliana Segre was celebrated by hundreds of citizens and Italian mayors at a rally against hatred in Milan, on Tuesday.

Segre was recently put under police protection due to anti-Semitic threats and became the target of online hatred.

“I have known hatred. I have known what it means to be a reject of the society to which I believed I belonged”, the now Italy’s senator-for-life who survived Auschwitz as a child told a cheering crowd in the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, vowed that citizens and mayors would be ready to return to the streets until a change in the climate of hatred.
