Iraq: Jubilant Crowd Celebrates PM's Resignation on Baghdad's Tahrir Square

Thousands of people flooded Baghdad’s Tahrir Square to celebrate, on Friday, after Iraq’s Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi announced his resignation following weeks of deadly demonstrations.

Iraq has been shaken by a wave of protests that left several people killed and many others injured in clashes with police during the last week’s protest. The unrest erupted at the beginning of October, fueled by anger of corruption and unemployment.

Earlier today, the prime minister announced that he would submit his resignation to the parliament.
