Iran: Ready to Negotiate If US Lifts 'Wrong, Cruel, Illegal and Terrorist Sanctions' – Rouhani

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated his demand of lifting US sanctions before negotiation talks can begin between the two nations, speaking at the National Insurance and Development Conference in Tehran on Wednesday.

“When the United States lifts the wrong, cruel, illegal and terrorist sanctions, instantly after lifting, the leaders of the P5+1 will be able to hold a meeting and we will have no problem to do so,” stated Rouhani.

“This situation of sanctions is not our fault. This condition of sanctions is stimulating Zionists and instability in the region. This condition of sanctions is the White House’s cruel move. We have no other choice except resistance and standing against those who impose these sanctions. Meanwhile, we have not closed the path of negotiations,” the Iranian President added.

In 2018, the US under the administration of US President Donald Trump, unilaterally withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Deal, also known as the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] and reimposed sanctions against the country.
