Greece: Protesters Flood Athens in Solidarity With Refugees

Protesters including members of an anti-fascist movement took to the streets of Athens to call for solidarity with refugees stranded at the Greek-Turkish border, on Saturday.

The demonstrators gathered in the Monastiraki square, where they held banners and distributed flyers in support of refugees.

The demonstration continued into the night, with riot police seen present at the scene with no major incidents reported.

Refugees have been trying to cross the border in large numbers since Turkey announced on February 27 that it would no longer abide by a 2016 agreement with the EU to halt migration flows into the continent in return for aid.
