Several hundred protesters marched to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin on Saturday to demand that Germany take in more child refugees who are stranded in Greece.
Under the slogan “we have space,” the protesters called for the end of literal and figurative borders which they claim lead to the deaths of many migrants.
“We demand safe passages not ‘frontex,'” said one activist, referring to the EU border and security agency.
The rally was joined by several left-wing groups, including Antifa Action, who marched with a “No cooperation with the AFD,” banner, referring to the recent Thuringia political crisis engulfing German headlines. FDP Minister Thomas Kemmerich was elected head of state in Thuringia with the support of far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. He has already resigned.
