France: Thousands Answer Unions' Call for Renewed Protests

Thousands of people hit the streets of Paris on Thursday, after French unions called for mass opposition to President Emmanuel Macron’s proposed pension reforms on the day it comes before the French Parliament.

Footage shows thousands of people marching with banners, flares and signs.

Members of different sectors took part in the protest, including rail workers, teachers, lawyers, workers of the chemical and energy industry. Groups of Yellow Vests also joined the rallies in different cities of France.

The nationwide strike, which started in early December, is one of the biggest to hit the country in years.
