Former Football Star Mohamed Sissoko Distributes Food Amid COVID Lockdown in Paris

A football coach in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis has been organising food collections for families in need amid the coronavirus crisis, with football star Mohamed Sissoko taking part in the effort, as shown in footage from Saturday.

Every Wednesday and Saturday, football coach Idrissa Diabira and his Urban Jeunesse Academy are helped by a dozen volunteers – including Sissoko, former PSG and Juventus star – in distributing food to those in need.

Volunteers collect and redistribute about 200 hundred complete lunch baskets per day. Foodstuffs including meat, bread, vegetables, rice, oil and pasta come from donations from parents of players in the association.

France has over 167,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 24,597 people have died with the disease, according to Johns Hopkins University.
