Footage filmed in New York City on Thursday shows food from a local food bank being distributed among those in need, as the coronavirus surge as well as city’s lockdown continue.

Linda Meyers, one of the locals said, “I think we should always look into the positive traits of what we can do together collectively, things that we can control, which is gather together and help people who are most in need.”

Millions of Americans have applied for unemployment benefits in the recent weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak, with the current unemployment rate reportedly rising to around 13 per cent.

According to data published by Johns Hopkins University, the US has registered 454,304 coronavirus cases with 16,672 deaths, 5,150 of them being registered in New York City.
