Medical experts testified on behalf of Julian Assange’s defence team, on Wednesday, presenting medical evidence against the WikiLeaks founder’s extradition due to mental health risks, at the Old Bailey criminal court in London.
“Today we were concerned with medical testimony. In the morning, evidence was given by a medical expert and in the afternoon, again a psychiatrist gave testimony,” Assange’s father, John Shipton told the press.
Former Ecuadorian diplomat Fidel Narvaez said, “In the morning we saw the expert who provided, at the defence’s request, a report regarding the condition of autism which Julian Assange has practically already been officially diagnosed with. According to the medical expert, Julian Assange has all the symptoms and characteristics of a person suffering with the Asperger syndrome.”
Assange has been behind bars in Belmarsh Prison since he was dragged out of the Ecuadorian Embassy in April 2019. He faces multiple charges in the US related to espionage.
