Colombia: Thousands Flood Bogota in Nationwide Strike

Thousands of protesters flooded the streets of Colombia’s capital Bogota on Wednesday, as they held a nationwide strike to protest against President Ivan Duque’s government and to commemorate a dead demonstrator.

Student groups and unions were seen marching and carrying banners, some in honour of 18-year-old Dilan Cruz, who was reportedly hit by a projectile thrown by riot police during a march last week.

Colombians are opposing alleged economic plans that might negatively affect pensions and minimum wage, they also denounce corruption and a crackdown on human rights activists.
