Colombia: Tear Gas Flies at Anti-Govt Protest in Bogota

Anti-government protesters gathered in Bogota streets with riot police seen firing tear gas at the demonstrators, Thursday.

Streets were set on fire, with thick smoke seen filling the area that was reportedly blocked for hours due to the protest. Colombia has been going through a wave of protests and anti-government mobilisations since November 21.

Among the protesters’ demands are the withdrawal of pension and labour reforms as well as the dismantling of the Colombian National Police’s riot control unit, the Mobile Anti-Disturbances Squadron (ESMAD).
