“China is paying close attention” after two US warships sailed through the Taiwan Strait, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Lu Kang said during a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.
“China is paying close attention and is fully aware of the fact that US warships sailed through the Taiwan Strait,” MOFA spokesperson said.
He added: “We urge the US to abide by the One-China Policy and Three Joint Communiques, handle the Taiwan-related issues carefully and properly, to avoid negative effects on China-US relations and Cross-straits relations.”
Taiwan’s Defence Ministry said that the ships were monitored and sailed from south to north without incidents.
Lang also reaffirmed the government’s support to Chinese tech companies like Huawei.
