Forces deployed by the Iraqi government raided protest sites in the southern city of Basra on Saturday, setting fire to protesters’ tents and removing barriers from the streets.
Footage shows smoke billowing from remnants of burned-out tents as well as local authorities clearing up the remnants from the square.
Reports say similar raids took place in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, with protesters accusing security forces of arson.
Unrest in Iraq began in October, amid anger over corruption and economic inequality. Over 400 protesters have been killed and thousands more injured during demonstrations.
