Several labour and workers’ unions staged a protest in Sao Paolo on Wednesday, denouncing economic measures recently proposed by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s government.
“The Bolsonaro government applies an agenda of national destruction,” said Secretary of Inter-Union Movement of Sao Paulo, adding “[an agenda] worsens people’s living conditions, cuts social spendings which are fundamental for economic growth.”
He continued: “The Bolsonaro government has nothing to present to the Brazilian people, the working class and the vast majority of the country, the Bolsonaro government is at service of finance capital and rentiers.”
On November 6, hundreds of protesters rallied against Bolsonaro amid allegations linking the president’s family to the murder of human rights activist and politician Marielle Franco.
