The former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone joined dozens of activists for a rally in support of jailed WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange outside the BBC’s headquarters in London on Saturday.
“We will never give in, and I know Julian [Assange] ain’t going to give in either. And there will be others who come along who do the same thing over the years to come; we have to stand up for them as well. We have a right to know the truth about what our governments and our great corporations are doing,” Livingstone said at the rally.
The former London mayor also expressed his hope that current mayor Sadiq Khan would “come out and call for Assange to be released.”
Assange is currently facing extradition to the US on espionage charges relating to the publication of classified military and diplomatic documents in 2010.
