April 5, 1994: Nirvana Frontman Kurt Cobain Dies At Home In Seattle, Washington.

On April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain, the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana, was found dead at his home in Seattle, Washington. Forensic analysis at the time, determined he had died by suicide three days earlier on April 5. The official ruling of suicide has been disputed by numerous sources.

April 6, 1994: Assassination of Juvénal Habyarimana and Cyprien Ntaryamira

On the evening of 6 April 1994, the airplane carrying Rwandan president Juvénal Habyarimana and Burundian president Cyprien Ntaryamira, both Hutu, was shot down with surface-to-air missiles as it prepared to land in Kigali, Rwanda. The assassination set in motion two of the bloodiest events of the late 20th century: the Rwandan genocide and the First Congo War.
