Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held an official meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez who expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart for Russia’s “solidarity” with Cuba in Moscow on Monday.
“We are grateful for your solidarity with us fighting the blockade, which is tightening,” he said, referring to the US embargo against Cuba.
He also expressed sympathy with Russia for the “measures and various sanctions which are being applied against Russia unilaterally and unfairly.”
The top diplomats met to discuss the most pressing regional issues, including the situation in Venezuela and the U.S. presence in the region. Both sides will sign a joint action plan for consultations.
