Police were seen attacking protesters, as the demonstrators unsuccessfully tried to tear down a statue of former US President Andrew Jackson in Washington DC, near the White House, on Monday.
Police protected the statue, pushing the protesters away.
Jackson, who was a former US Army general, during his presidential term signed the Indian Removal Act, relocating thousands of Native Americans.
Anti-racism demonstrations, including tearing down statues, have been taking place across the world following the killing of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis on May 25.
