Hundreds of people protested in Jericho on Monday against Israeli plans to annex territories in the West Bank and against US President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century.”
Protesters were seen holding Palestinian flags and signs, in a demonstration convened by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov was seen speaking at the rally.
“Today, we affirm the continuation of militants and militant activities to defend our people, the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” said PLO Executive Committee member Wasel Abu Yousef.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to annex land in the West Bank occupied by Israeli settlements, in addition to other parts of the area, including the Jordan Valley.
