After suspending the school and universities, in Gaza Strip, in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus, teachers continued the educational process in the strip through broadcasting educational lessons via the Education Voice Radio Station where footage, shows teachers broadcasting lessons live from the station’s studio on Tuesday.
“The current state of emergency occurred as we were fully prepared and ready to broadcast the educational lessons for high school students,” said the Director of Voice of Education Radio Tamer al-Sharif, who added that “we have an infrastructure in advance, given the difficult circumstances and the previous contingencies we have encountered.”
The radio’s director highlighted that “we have more than two million views for our Facebook videos in addition to a million views on the Rawafed Education website, the first educational site in Palestine, that provides students with supporting materials as well as previous exam forms to help them overcome this crisis.”
The authorities in Gaza decided to extend the closure of all educational institutions in the strip until the end of March.
According to official data, the number of school students in the Palestinian Authority areas in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and in Jerusalem amount to about one million and three hundred thousand students.
Palestine’s total confirmed cases reached 39, with no deaths reported.
