USA: Streets Empty Throughout Washington DC As Coronavirus Forces Closures

Streets in Washington D.C. were filmed empty on Saturday after major landmarks such as the Smithsonian Museums were temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Some visitors were still seen near food trucks in the central area.

“Compared to last year, it’s been very slow, so far part of this season should have been really busy. We usually take around 300-400 customers but due to the coronavirus and the museum shutting down we’re only taking around 100 customers a day,” said Osman, who owns an ice cream truck

Over 22 million people visited the Smithsonian Institutions which include 19 museums and the National Zoological Park last year.

The U.S reported 2,499 confirmed cases of COVID-19 which resulted in 55 deaths.
