Palestine: Protest Opposes Trump 'Peace Plan' in Gaza

Hundreds of people protested against the Middle East ‘peace plan’ of US President Donald Trump in Gaza City on Monday.

Footage shows protesters gathering in front of the office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO). Protesters proceeded to set fire to a dummy representing Trump that was draped in US and Israeli flags.

“We call on the United Nations to intervene immediately,” said Democratic Front leader Talal Abu Zarifa.

On Monday, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh called on international powers to boycott Trump’s ‘peace plan,’ seen by Palestinians as being biased towards Israel.

Trump’s plan is expected to weigh heavily in Israel’s favour, as Trump will attempt to forge peace in between Israel and Palestine.

The US president is reportedly expected to present a map of Israel’s new borders under his peace plan on Monday.

The plan has been criticised as a distraction from Netanyahu’s recent charges of fraud and corruption and Trump’s impeachment proceedings.
