East Jerusalem: Chaos Erupts After Israeli Forces Enter Al-Aqsa During Ramadan

Scuffles broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli security forces at al-Aqsa mosque in East Jerusalem on Sunday following reports of a Jewish tour of the holy site during Ramadan.
Footage shows the worshippers fleeing after Israeli forces entered the compound as part of the tour.

Tear gas canisters and stun grenades were detonated during a flurry of chaos after dozens of Jewish visitors were escorted onto the grounds by security forces.

According to reports, Sunday’s scuffles came amid calls by Jewish groups to converge on the site to mark Jerusalem Day, a national holiday where Israelis celebrate the anniversary of their occupation of East Jerusalem at the end of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

Security measures have been tightened and police are on high alert as thousands of Israelis are expected to march through Jerusalem, including the Muslim quarter of the Old City, to mark the anniversary.
