China’s ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming said the relations between the two countries were seriously affected by London’s interference in Hong Kong. Liu was speaking at an online news conference in the British capital on Thursday.
“[The] UK side have done thing to undermine the mutual trust by making unwarranted accusations of this national security law to interrupt the implementation of law in Hong Kong. So I think, as I already said in my presentation, the way out for China-UK relations is basic three principles: mutual respect, non-interference into each others’ affairs and treat each other as equal partners,” said the ambassador.
The UK offered at least three million Hong Kong residents the right to settle in the country after China imposed the national security law in the city. Liu condemned the decision.
