Several protesters were seen injured as hundreds of Yellow Vest demonstrators clashed violently with police in Lyon on Saturday.
Several pools of blood could be seen as riot police and protesters traded tear gas canisters with water cannon seen being deployed. Several injured protesters were picked up by ambulances. Some members of the press were also blasted with the water cannon, charged at and were pushed by riot police.
Saturday marked the 69th Yellow Vest demonstration since November 17 when the Yellow Vests movement began demonstrating against the status quo every Saturday. A nationwide strike against pension reforms, one of the largest French history, which started in December 2019 breathed new life into the movement.
