After 21 coronavirus cases were reported, the government put in place a plan for employment protection as well as a ban on tourists and a lockdown for at-risk groups on March 20.
With free universal healthcare and the world’s highest ratio of doctors in regards to the population, Cuba also prepared a “prevention and control” plan in January 2020, training medical staff and organising quarantine facilities.
As of Sunday, Cuba stands at 1,369 coronavirus cases and 54 fatalities, based on data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
