COVID-19 Scientist Close to Making ‘Very Significant Findings’ Murdered in Pittsburgh

A University of Pittsburgh professor who, according to the university, was close to making “very significant findings” regarding COVID-19, was found dead in Ross Township, Pittsburgh, Saturday. His house as well as locals and neighbours reacting to his death can be seen in the footage from Wednesday.

Bing Liu was found with gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and torso in his house, according to local police.

Neighbours interviewed said they were “devastated” to hear about the loss and that it was “shocking to hear what happened just a few houses down.”

Investigators believe an unnamed second man, who was found dead in his car, shot and killed the professor, before returning to his car and committing suicide.

The University released a statement saying, “Bing was on the verge of making very significant findings toward understanding the cellular mechanisms that underlie SARS-CoV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the following complications.”

“We will make an effort to complete what he started in an effort to pay homage to his scientific excellence,” the post published on the University’s website went on to say.
