Protesters clashed with security forces during a march in the wake of the Peace Week, in Medellin on Monday.
Demonstrators were seen marching by the police headquarters, where scuffles erupted. One of the rallygoers was carrying a sign reading “You are hurt by a CAI (police station) that is repaired in one day. I am marching through a country that has suffered a lifetime.”
Some protesters were seen breaking the windows of a store, before setting the facade on fire and throwing furniture on the street.
The killing of lawyer Javier Ordonez by police on September 8 in Engativa, Bogota, has unleashed a wave of protests and riots nationwide. Ordonez died in police custody after being detained for allegedly breaking social distancing rules.
