Chile: Students Clash With Police As Pinera Marks Two Years in Office

Thousands of high school students took to the streets of Santiago on Wednesday to protest against the government of President Sebastian Pinera as he marked two years in office.

Footage shows students marching down one of the main avenues in the Chilean capital and facing riot police who respond to protesters by making some arrests and using tear gas.

The demonstration was called by the Coordinating Assembly of High School Students (ACES), an organization that called for occupying the schools as a pressure measure to get Pinera out of power.

Students accuse the government of ignoring repeated human rights violations during protests against Pinera.
