Groups of high school students demonstrated against Chilean President Sebastian Pinera in Santiago on Wednesday.
The deadline for the start of classes for schoolchildren was between March 4 and 5, but in response to calls for demonstrations by the ACES (Coordinating Assembly of Secondary Students) and CoNES (National Coordinator of Secondary Students), hundreds of young people decided not to attend classes in protest.
Footage shows the students running away from the carabineros and a young man being detained. Protesters can also be seen reprimanding the officers.
According to reports, there were metro station closures and traffic problems due to the protests.
