Left-wing groups rallied against Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in Sao Paulo on Sunday, as the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country was on the rise.
Demonstrators were seen gathering in Sao Paulo’s Franklin Roosevelt square holding signs against Bolsonaro and wearing antifascist movement t-shirts.
“We are here in the city centre, supporting this antifascist gathering. Our country is so polarised and this president is fomenting hate,” said protester Yogi.
Bolsonaro has been facing a growing backlash against his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Brazil is the second worst-hit country by the crisis worldwide after the US.
